LP – FIE Épée Blade

The world’s lightest and most durable FIE épée blade.
A unique, patented design enables us to manufacture these blades using a cold-forging technique, significantly reducing defects in the steel and thereby ensuring the longest possible service life for any épée blade. Once the blade has been shaped, we subject it to hand-operated shot peening, which increases surface density and removes external imperfections. The blade is then heat-treated at 225 degrees for 55 minutes, which hardens the steel. We test every single blade by hand and measure its flexibility, so you can choose a blade whose stiffness suits your fencing style. On average, this blade completes 17,000 bending cycles on the FIE test machine. The blade also holds the FIE world record for the longest survival time on the bending machine. By combining British manufacturing with German design, it delivers the very best épée point. The latest spring design features the ®one way® spring, which is used in German-style épée points. This means that the spring can only be wound onto the thread in one direction and cannot be unwound during use. This innovation eliminates the problem of the spring sliding up the thread, which would cause the point to fail the measurement test, and removes the need to stretch the spring.
